Kinetic Device Workshops

In recent years my practice has shifted from field recording and exploring acoustics in space and materials to repurposing obsolete and discarded technology. This already featured in my projects since a lab project with Casa Tres Patios and the University of Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia back in 2013, but I really focused on this type of material in "Made to Malfunction" in 2018 through the Creators-in-Lab residency at Asia Culture Center, Gwangju, South Korea. Through lockdowns and further residency projects this instigated "Channelling", a kinetic audiovisual performance using components and mechanisms from outdated consumer electronics.

Because of this I now offer workshops to demonstrate this method of making kinetic sound-making pieces which are triggered by sound impulses. Sound awareness and exploration, active listening exercises and field recording will still feature in the workshops as it is only through being aware of and interested in sonic activity that we can appreciate the processes at work in these sessions.
