'Return'

Commission by Tsukuba Art Center for 'Sousei' exhibition, Fureai No Sato, Mount Tsukuba, Japan, 2015

Text from exhibition:

"We increasingly discard objects as we journey through life. Possessions once hunted down, desired, treasured become worthless, junk, trash. 

Furniture is traditionally made from timber, the flesh of the tree. Rather than discard pieces of furniture, I am returning wood to wood and giving it a voice.

Unwanted drawers have been transformed into musical instruments, which will be activated by the irregular effects of the winds of Mount Tsukuba."
